An Evening in Portofino Necklace
An Evening in Portofino began, like many of my pieces, in the quiet rhythm of my studio — music on shuffle, tools at my bench, and the soft hum of creativity filling the room. As I worked, “Love in Portofino” by Dalida came on unexpectedly, and the very first notes stopped me.
In that instant, my mind went straight to my birthday twin and lifelong muse, Sophia Loren. I pictured her exactly as I’ve always imagined: seated on a balcony overlooking the Ligurian Sea, a glass of vino bianco in hand, wrapped in warm evening air and the effortless elegance that defined her presence. The moonlight reflecting over the water, the quiet glamour of an Italian night — and always, always, pearls.
The piece features a strand of 15–16 mm grey freshwater pearls, each one individually wire wrapped in sterling silver. Their natural silver hue mirrors moonlight drifting across the sea, while the hand-wrapped construction adds movement, artistry, and a sense of intimate craftsmanship. It is a modern interpretation of a classic strand, luminous and quietly cinematic.
A piece for anyone who feels drawn to its story — made with the intention that whoever connects with it is its rightful wearer.
If it resonates with you, it was made for you.
