Mawj | Sculptural Gold-Tone & Silver Disc Earrings

$58.00

Architecture has always been a source of fascination for me, particularly the way form, movement, and space can transform an ordinary structure into something extraordinary.

Mawj, an Arabic word meaning wave, celebrates that fascination through a sculptural composition inspired by the architectural imagination of Zaha Hadid, the groundbreaking Iraqi-British architect whose work challenged conventional ideas of structure and form.

Known for her fluid silhouettes, sweeping curves, and unexpected geometric relationships, Hadid approached architecture as something dynamic rather than static. Her work became an enduring source of inspiration for my own explorations of shape, balance, and movement in jewelry.

These earrings translate that inspiration into an elegant interplay of open space and contrasting metals.

Each earring features an elongated, asymmetrical gold-tone teardrop frame, its gently sweeping contours creating a sense of movement even while still. The open center allows light and space to become part of the composition, while three small silver-colored discs suspended along the lower edge introduce rhythm, contrast, and a playful sense of motion.

The warm golden surface is balanced by the cooler silver accents, creating a design that feels simultaneously modern and timeless. The simplicity of the materials allows the sculptural silhouette to become the central expression.

Mawj reflects my continuing fascination with architecture, particularly the extraordinary creative contributions of artists and designers from Western Asia and the ways their visual languages can inspire new forms of artistic expression.

A study in movement, geometry, and the beauty of space itself.
