Janela | Picasso Jasper & Sterling Silver Necklace

$285.00

Architecture has always fascinated me, particularly the way different cultures transform everyday structures into expressions of art, history, and identity.

Around 2010–2011, I found myself particularly enamored with the architecture of Western Asia. The ornamental details, intricate forms, and beautifully framed windows of the region captured my imagination. There was something about the way an architectural opening could become a work of art in itself, offering a glimpse into another world.

That fascination inspired the original sterling silver pendant at the heart of Janela, Portuguese for window.

Handcrafted with an organically shaped silhouette, the pendant draws from the character of traditional architectural windows without reproducing any one particular design. Its softly irregular silver frame surrounds a polished jasper cabochon, whose natural markings in terracotta, warm brown, and charcoal resemble a miniature landscape glimpsed through an opening.

The pendant is suspended from a strand of Picasso jasper, bringing together an earthy palette of forest greens, burgundy reds, ochres, and muted browns. Delicate daisy spacers and rounded silver accents introduce rhythm and subtle points of light, creating an interplay between the natural character of the gemstones and the craftsmanship of the metalwork.

Rediscovered from the Monsieur Pamplemousse archives, Janela brings an early exploration of architecture and metalsmithing into the present. It reflects a fascination that continues to influence my work: the beauty of cultural expression, the stories held within objects, and the unexpected connections between art forms.

A window into another place, another time, and a moment of artistic discovery.
