Elos | Handcrafted Sterling Silver Link Necklace
Some creations are made to be worn immediately. Others remain with us for years, quietly becoming part of our artistic history, waiting for the moment when they are ready to begin a new chapter.
Elos, the Portuguese word for links, began in 2010 as an exploration of geometry, texture, and the expressive possibilities of sterling silver. Created entirely by hand, each individual link was shaped from substantial silver wire, alternating between circular and elongated oval forms to create a composition of rhythm, movement, and balance.
The design draws upon the language of modernist architecture and the geometric simplicity of the Bauhaus movement, where form, material, and function exist in harmony. Smooth, polished circles contrast with organically shaped ovals, some featuring delicate hammered textures that catch and scatter the light. These subtle variations reveal the unmistakable presence of the artist's hand, ensuring that no two links are quite identical.
The interconnected forms create a fluid, sculptural chain that moves naturally with the body. Substantial yet remarkably open in appearance, Elos allows the beauty of sterling silver to take center stage, without the need for gemstones or additional ornamentation.
For more than fifteen years, this necklace remained part of the Monsieur Pamplemousse archives, a personal reminder of an earlier chapter in my journey as a metalsmith. Now, it is finally ready to find a home beyond the ateliê.
There is something poetic about that passage of time. A chain is formed through connections, each link dependent upon the next, much like the experiences, people, and memories that shape our lives.
Elos is a celebration of those connections, of craftsmanship that endures, and of the beauty found in objects made slowly and intentionally.
An original work from 2010, ready for its next story.
